Ray McWhorter
Ray McWhorter is a retired elementary school teacher originally from north Georgia. A self-taught potter, Ray has been creating ceramic artwork since 2008. Most of his work is wheel thrown and hand decorated.He is inspired by the American Arts & Crafts movement of the early 1900s. Pottery pieces from well known studios such as Rookwood, Newcomb College, and Weller provide sources of classic shapes and forms.Many pieces are decorated with stained glass patterns inspired by Frank LLoyd Wright and Tiffany Studios.Ray also creates pieces using sgraffito and swirl techniques.
