Leigh Hawkins
Leigh, a native of Florida, was born and raised in Winter Park and currently lives on Amelia Island. She started in art as a girl to get out of piano lessons and continued to sign-up for art classes. Starting in pastels during junior high, Leigh progressed to studying at the Crealde School of Art in Winter Park, FL and eventually took private lessons in oil from well known artist Adelee Wendell. After many years of putting art on hold because of college and her work, Leigh retired and returned to her creative side. Since then, she has transitioned to paper painting (collage), acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media studying under various artists through workshops and classes. The majority of her art is inspired from her photos and nature, using multiple art mediums to create impressionistic, and at times abstract, artwork. Leigh has won multiple awards at juried shows and is currently an exhibiting member of the Island Art Association in Amelia Island, FL.
