Alice Tobermann Henry
I have been working with glass for more than twenty years. I began with traditional stained glass and leaded windows before evolving into the manipulation of hot glass. My main focuses are flameworking glass in the style of lampworkers in Murano, Italy, and creating larger kiln-forming glass artwork. I create beads using a variety of glasses including some containing gold, silver and other metal oxides. I create hollow beads using a miniature blow pipe very much like traditional large-scale blown glass art. I find inspiration in nature, but also from textiles in texture, pattern and color. Creating has always been a passion for me, whether it is with glass, silver and copper jewelry, or paint. I am constantly striving to learn new techniques and advance my art, and recently traveled to Thailand and Murano, Italy to study advanced techniques.
