Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival Fine Arts & Crafts Show
Fernandina Beach, FL

Presented annually the first weekend in May

The first Shrimp Festival was held in 1963 to celebrate the traditional blessing of the shrimp fleet...once a major industry on beautiful, historic Amelia Island.   Approximately 150,000 people attend during the weekend event to enjoy fine food, fine art and special activities. The Island Art Association sponsors the arts and crafts portion of the festival in conjunction with the Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival Committee.     Annually about 325 artists and craftsmen are juried by IAA into the show and compete for  $9,850 in prize money.  By participation in our Patron Purchase Program. local patrons of the arts pledge to purchase approximately $30,000 - $50,000 from participating Shrimp Festival artists in addition to purchases by the multitude of attendees who visit the island during the festival.  The arts and crafts exhibit has been consistently recognized as one of the best art events in North America by Sunshine Artist Magazine and has been ranked in the Top 200 many times in recent years.
