Joe Winston works in clay and photography. He was educated as a three dimensional designer and textile designer. He has a long and varied career in product design and real estate design. He is a graduate of the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA. He moved to Fernandina in 1994 where he has a ceramic studio just off Centre St. His work is one of a kind handmade pieces. All work starts with a drawing on paper. His bowls are 3D representations of landscapes. Each piece is intended to be individual and not to be duplicated, although the theme or concept will be repeated. The bronze pieces are originally formed in clay. Each casting has variations in the finished form that defines it from the original clay piece. This guy makes big bowls.
