Shrimp Festival

Marilyn is a fine artist who shares her talent and joy in art. She teaches arts and crafts at Fernandina Beach HS and for over 30 years her classes have always been packed. A Nassau County "Teacher of the Year," she founded the school art exhibit as a feature of the annual Shrimp Festival. Reflecting her creative growth, Marilyn's style of painting has changed from expressionist oils to more realistic watercolor. Regional scenes from Amelia Island flow from her brush. Lately she's painting more "genre" scenes -- the ordinary daily life we sometimes take for granted but actually makes our lives more complete and satisfying. Loving the spontaneous, fluid medium of watercolor, she doesn't do the same composition more than once. She feels the collector is entitled to a true "original"; therefore, there are not even any prints made from her work! Born in Orlando, FL and living in Fernandina since she was four, Marilyn received her Master's Degree from the University of Florida.
