DIANE HAMBURG
Through
my art, my hope is to pay tribute to the beauty, vastness and strength of Mother
Nature.
An ongoing passion
of mine is to start with white fabric, manipulate it, dye it, paint, stamp,
print, discharge, and foil it. And, then add commercially [printed fabrics to
make a collage – realistic or abstract. I am in the midst of taking black
fabric and discharging (taking the color out). Another recent passion is
needle felting. The freedom of taking fragments of different fabrics, rovings,
yarns and punching the fibers together to make a unique fabric is childlike and
exhilarating. I enjoy using free motion machine embroidery and quilting to
further my art along. I might add hand embroidery, shells, buttons, yarns, and
beads to finish the piece.
