Nouveau Art in the South
Hall
A Themed and Juried Art Show
In an effort to promote the arts in Nassau
County, FL, the Island Art Association initiated this project to allow more
artists to exhibit work in the IAA Gallery and at the same time inspire artists
to provide a continuous flow of NEW artwork. Nouveau Art began in
2004 with the help of a grant by the Community Foundation in Jacksonville.
Every 2 months artists are challenged to
produce NEW art that reflects a new theme. An outside artist is invited to
judge the submissions and award monetary prizes and ribbons. An opening
reception is widely advertised and held the
Saturday after the jurying. All are invited to enjoy the art,
congratulate the winners and take part in the festivities.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Entry fee is
$15 for 1 or $25 for 2 submissions for IAA members; $25 per submission for nonmembers; maximum of 2 pieces
per artist. An entry form (see below) must be completed, in duplicate, for
each piece.
AGREEMENT:
To conform with the IAA bylaws for all artists whose work is shown
in the IAA Gallery, selected participants are required to work one day in the
gallery with an exhibiting artist during the time the art is displayed. ALL ARTWORK
ACCEPTED MUST BE FOR SALE. A 30% commission will be taken by the IAA.
If artwork is sold, artist will receive check by mail after the end of the
monthly accounting period. ALL ACCEPTED ARTWORK WILL REMAIN IN THE GALLERY
UNTIL SOLD OR SHOW ENDS.
ELIGIBLE WORK: Only original
works of art completed by the artist that have never been displayed in or on the
IAA property will be accepted. Artists are encouraged to follow the theme
of each show. The juror may reject or remove from consideration works that
do not follow the theme of the show.
INELIGIBLE
WORK: Mass produced pieces, work made from a kit or a class,
novelty items, or anything the juror deems unacceptable.
SIZE LIMITATIONS: 36"x36" united
inches including frame.
FRAMING RULES: All frames must have
a professional appearance. No framed artwork will be accepted without a
hanging wire. Sawtooth hangers are not acceptable. In
consideration of gallery workers, coated wire is appreciated.
3-D ARTWORK: The artist must include
a means to display their artwork if it cannot be hung on a wall (table,
pedestal, etc.).
THE JUROR'S
DECISION IS FINAL:
Artists must recognize that jurors may not accept their work. Space
limitations will require the juror to eliminate some submissions. Awards
and eligibility are at the sole discretion of the juror.

Although all possible care will be taken, artwork is delivered
at the risk of the artist. The IAA cannot not be liable for loss, theft or
damage while the artwork is in the gallery.
