Jayne Bentley Gaskins
Gaskins began her career as an advertising art director. Later, having discovered corporate greed, she returned to school to earn an MBA. At this point, her art was put on hold while her creative spirit found an outlet through writing as she actively pursued a career in as a marketing and communications strategist. Initially, Gaskins worked in the ad industry, but later atoned for her sins by using her knowledge to promote public health with the Centers for Disease Control. She is now blissfully retired and living on a little piece of paradise known as Amelia Island, FL. Gaskins’ art combines her two great loves: photography and fiber. It is here that she makes peace with her early training as a graphic designer and the fiber art she always turned to for an escape from the chaos of a stressful business world. Her digitally manipulated photos are printed on fabric and then stitched to produce a relief effect that enhances depth and perspective. Gaskins’ art has earned both local and national awards.
